President Jakaya Kikwete is today expected to dish out Idd el Fitr gifts to 27 orphanages and centres taking care of disabled and elderly people across the country.
According to a statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the president would issue the Idd presents to the earmarked centres at around 10am.
Centres which will benefit include four from Zanzibar - Istikamaa orphanage based in Chake Chake, Pemba; Limbani elders’ home at Wete; Sebleni elders’ home in Zanzibar, and Mabaoni orphanage in Chake Chake, Pemba.
Others are Dar es Salaam-based including Nunge centre at Kigamboni; Dar-Ram orphanage at Tandika; Vosa orphanage at Kongowe; Furaha orphanage at Mburahati; CHAKUWAMA at Sinza Mori; Tua Moyo hostel at Kigamboni; Vocational College for the Disabled at Yombo and Kurasini centre for needy children.
Others are Child in the Sun at Kimara; Dogodogo Centre on Mansfield Street in Dar es Salaam; Moyo Mmoja orphanage in Bagamoyo; Elders home at Msimbazi; Al-Hanifat-Islamic centre at Chang’ombe Toroli; New Life orphanage at Magomeni, UMRA orphanage at Magomeni and Umml-Muumnim orphanage at Vingunguti
Those in up-country regions include Shirati children's centre in Mara Region; Nkaseka centre in Mtwara Region; Funga Funga centre in Morogoro Region; Igongwe centre in Mbeya; Mbesa centre in Ruvuma; Laela children's centre in Rukwa, and Shinyanga orphanage in Shinyanga.
