JA RULE TO GO IN PRISON ON JUNE 8

Ja RuleSo... Ja Rule's sentencing in his gun chase is delayed until June, and that's when he plans to drop his next album, The Renaissance Project.

The rapper made the announcement with a Twitter update (@RuleYork) over the weekend, simply writing: "Breaking news.........RENAISSANCE PROJECT JUNE 7th!!! ..."

The album will be Ja's seventh, and will be released through his own label, Mpire Music, which is distributed by Fontana Distribution.

Ja (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) was sentenced to two years in prison last December for a weapons charge he picked up during an arrest in 2007 in Manhattan as he left a Lil Wayne concert.

Last week, Rule's lawyer successfully lobbied to have his prison sentence delayed until June, as he tied up loose business ends, specifically a tax issue. He also revealed that he would use the time to finish his new album.

The Renaissance Project drops June 7th, and the following day, Ja Rule is set to begin serving his prison term.
