PRECISION AIR CAPITALISES ON AIR TANZANIA VACUUM
Precision Air has announced new measures to help it cope with the growing number of passengers. The measures announced by the airline's senior officials in Dar es Salaam yesterday will see the airline filling the vacuum of air transport needs created by Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL). The vacuum has come after Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) revoked ATCL of its airworthiness license, rendering the state-owned airline incapable of making local and international flights. And Precision Air managing director, Alfonse Kioko said yesterday that his airline has initiated measures to fill the gap and make sure that the vacuum is fully filled. The measures are also aimed at helping the airline to serve its clients efficiently during the holiday season. "Starting Saturday, we will be flying to Mwanza thrice in a day instead of the current two times. We will be dispatching our 70-seater flight and this means that we will have 210 seats to Mwanza in one day," said Mr Kioko who also doubles as the airlines chief executive officer. Mr Kioko who was accompanied to the press conference by the airlines head of network planning and strategy, Patrick Ndekana said Precision Air was also exploring new destinations wherever the airlines services will be needed. "We have the equipment, muscles and the will to do that. We only need to analyze the market before dispatching our flights to new destinations," said Mr Kioko. According to Ndekana, the airline recently increased from two to three times per day, the number of flights to Nairobi. Precision will however remain with one flight each to Kigoma and Mtwara during the holiday season. The embattled ATCL had also been flying to the two destinations. The number of flights to Kilimanjaro and Arusha will remain five times in a day.
