James Bond's latest mission has broken all records after taking £4.9m in ticket sales on its opening day in the UK.Quantum of Solace has shattered the previous record for a Friday opening held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which took £4.025m.
It means the 22nd Bond holds the record for the biggest box office take for a Friday opening in UK cinema history.
The numbers that flocked to the latest Bond also dwarfed the box office figures for the opening day of its predecessor, Casino Royale.
That movie, Craig's first in the role of 007, took £2.9m.
In Quantum Of Solace, Bond is on a personal mission to avenge the death of his girlfriend Vesper Lynd. The story picks up where Casino Royale left off.
Craig told Sky News: "The lucky thing is we're doing a very direct sequel and the idea of vengeance that comes into it is really everybody else's idea.
"They think he's gone off, gone off course, and he's not. He's a loose cannon, his emotions have taken over."
This latest film in the James Bond series is directed by Finding Neverland man Marc Forster, who gives depth and emotion to Bond's character.
The movie also marks a debut for Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, who is the latest in a long line of 007 glamour
